Tools for yards that deserve better

About the Site

About CrispLawns

We review the tools that keep a lawn healthy — not just the ones that cut it — and we tell you the truth about them.

Why this site exists

There is no shortage of coverage for lawn mowers. The tools that come after the mow — the sweepers, spreaders, and aerators that actually keep turf healthy through a full season — get a lot less honest attention. Most of what's out there is a thin list of Amazon bestsellers with the specs copied off the box.

CrispLawns exists to fill that gap. We pick a category, work out what actually matters in it, and write the review we wish we'd been able to read before spending the money ourselves.

How we approach a review

Our reviews are diagnostic, not promotional. Instead of listing features, we start from the problem you're trying to solve — the wet leaves that clump, the acorns a brush won't grab, the fertilizer stripe that burns the lawn — and work back to which tool handles it and which one doesn't.

That means being specific about failure points. When a machine has a weak pinion gear at the one-year mark, or a hopper that won't survive a season of pine needles, we say so plainly — even when it's a product we'd otherwise recommend.

The best lawn tool is the one you stop thinking about after the first season.

What we won't do

A few lines we don't cross, because the whole point of the site depends on them:

If a verdict here can't be trusted, it isn't worth writing. So we'd rather recommend nothing than recommend the wrong thing.

What we cover

Three categories, each built out around the questions people actually search for:

Lawn Sweepers
Push and tow-behind, across every debris type.
Spreaders
Broadcast and drop, coverage and calibration.
Aerators
Plug vs. spike, timing, weight, and passes.

How we're funded

CrispLawns is free to read and supported by affiliate links. When you buy through certain links on the site, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — and that commission never influences a verdict. The full details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
